Getting Started

What is Vine Guard?Vine Guard is an AI-assisted diagnostic aid for vineyard operators. You take a photo of a vine, the App returns a likely issue and a suggested care plan, and you confirm with your PCA or farm adviser before acting on it.
Do I need an account to use Vine Guard?No. You can run a free diagnosis without signing in. Creating an account lets you save assessments to your Pro library, restore your data if you reinstall the App, and sync subscription state across Apple devices.
Which devices does Vine Guard support?Vine Guard runs on iPhone and iPad on recent versions of iOS. Android is not currently supported.

Scans and Care Plans

How accurate is the AI diagnosis?Accuracy depends on photo quality, lighting, and how representative the symptom is. Vine Guard always returns a confidence score and a list of alternative possibilities. It is a diagnostic aid, not a professional opinion. Confirm with your PCA, farm adviser, or extension service before applying any treatment.
What photo should I take?Get close to the affected tissue (leaf, cluster, cane, or trunk) in good daylight. Fill the frame with the symptom, keep the photo in focus, and avoid heavy shadow. If you can, include a reference leaf from the same vine that looks healthy.
Can I use Vine Guard offline?No. Diagnosis and care plan generation require an internet connection because the App sends the photo to our AI providers for analysis.
What does a care plan include?A care plan includes a suggested approach with materials, alternatives, and duration. It is a starting point for a conversation with your PCA or farm adviser, not a prescription. Always confirm the plan, check the product label, and follow PHI and REI requirements before re-entry or harvest.

Varietal ID

How does varietal ID work?Take a photo of a representative leaf and the App returns the most likely varietal, color, and a confidence level, plus a short description of what the model looked at.
Can I use varietal ID for certification?No. Varietal ID is assistive only. For certification-grade identification, confirm with a DNA test through a qualified lab.

Vineyards, Notes, and the Library

How do vineyard tags work?When you finish a scan you can tag the assessment with a vineyard name. The App groups all scans from the same vineyard together so you can see a timeline of issues across the season.
Are my notes private?Yes. Vineyard names and notes are stored locally on your device using MMKV and are not uploaded to our servers. If you share an assessment, notes are included only if you choose to include them in the share.
How do I save an assessment to my library?On the results screen, tap Save. Saving to your library is a Pro feature. If you are not yet a Pro subscriber, you will be offered Pro at the moment you try to save.

Pro Subscription and Billing

What does Vine Guard Pro unlock?Pro unlocks unlimited diagnoses, varietal ID, saving assessments to your library, sharing a scan with your team, and your vineyard-organized history. The first diagnosis is free for everyone.
How do I cancel my subscription?Open iPhone Settings, tap your name at the top, tap Subscriptions, tap Vine Guard, and tap Cancel. You keep Pro access until the end of the period you already paid for.
How do I get a refund?Apple handles all refunds for App Store purchases. Request a refund at https://reportaproblem.apple.com/. Foundry cannot issue App Store refunds directly.
I paid but don’t see Pro features.In the App, open Settings and tap Restore Purchases. If that does not work, please email hello@builtbyfoundry.io with your App Store email and we will investigate.

Privacy and Data

Are my photos used to train AI?No. Under our API agreements with OpenAI and Google, prompts and photos submitted through the API are not used to train their foundation models. Your photos are used to generate your diagnosis and care plan only.
How do I delete my account and data?Email privacy@builtbyfoundry.io from the address tied to your account and we will remove or de-identify your active data within 30 days. Backups are purged within 90 days. Subscription and tax records may be retained where required by law.

Troubleshooting

The scan failed or timed out.Check your internet connection, kill the app from the app switcher, reopen it, and try again. If the failure keeps happening, email hello@builtbyfoundry.io with the approximate time of the failure and a short description of what you saw.
The App is crashing.Make sure you are on the latest version from the App Store and restart your device. If the crash persists, email us with your device model, iOS version, and what you were doing right before the crash.
My location tag is wrong.Location accuracy depends on your device’s GPS and current permissions. Check Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Vine Guard and make sure location is set to While Using the App. Indoor or high-elevation environments can reduce GPS accuracy.
