How do I check my first claim?Tap the Claim Checker, type or paste a claim you want to evaluate, and hit Analyze. Our AI will break down the claim's accuracy and identify any logical fallacies.
Do I need an account to use Is This BS?You can analyze one claim per day without an account. Creating a free account via Sign in with Apple unlocks streak tracking, XP, and your claim history across devices.
What is the Daily Challenge?Each day, Professor Dave presents a new claim for you to evaluate. Test your critical thinking skills, earn XP, and keep your streak alive.
Claim Analysis
How does the AI analysis work?Your claim is sent to our secure backend, where it's analyzed by AI (GPT-4o) for accuracy, logical fallacies, and reasoning quality. Results are cached so identical claims return instantly.
Is the AI analysis always correct?No. AI analysis is for educational purposes and may contain errors. Always verify important claims through peer-reviewed research and authoritative sources. Think of it as a starting point for your own critical thinking.
Can I share my analysis results?Premium members can generate shareable analysis cards. The share sheet uses your device's native sharing - no data is sent to our servers when you share.
Streaks, XP & Progress
How do streaks work?Complete at least one claim analysis or daily challenge each day to maintain your streak. The longer your streak, the more XP you earn.
What is XP used for?XP tracks your overall engagement with critical thinking. It's earned through claim analyses, daily challenges, and maintaining streaks.
I missed a day. Can I restore my streak?Currently, streaks reset if you miss a day. We're exploring streak-protection features for a future update.
Premium & Billing
What does Premium include?Unlimited claim analyses (free users get one per day), shareable analysis cards, access to the full fallacy library, and other premium features as they launch.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?Go to iPhone Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → Is This BS, or use Settings → Manage Subscription in the app. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
Do you offer refunds?Refunds follow Apple's policies. If you experienced a technical issue preventing access, contact us within 7 days. EU users have a 14-day withdrawal right.
Troubleshooting
My analysis is taking a long time.New claims take a few seconds to analyze. If it's been more than 30 seconds, check your internet connection, force close the app, and try again. Previously analyzed claims should return instantly.
I'm not receiving reminder notifications.Go to iPhone Settings → Notifications → Is This BS and enable alerts. You can also adjust notification timing in the app's Settings screen.
The app feels slow or stuck.Force close the app, reopen, and confirm you're running the latest version. If the issue continues, please email us with your device type and app version.
