1. Agreement to Terms
These Terms of Service govern your use of the Greenhorn Grove mobile application ("App") operated by Built by Foundry, Inc., formerly known as Playpen Games, Inc. ("Foundry"). By using the App, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please uninstall the App.Age Requirement: You must be at least 13 years old to use Greenhorn Grove. If you're 13-17, review these Terms with a parent or guardian.2. About Greenhorn Grove
Greenhorn Grove is a mobile application that helps home cooks learn to make real food from scratch. It serves one curated recipe a day from Matthew Gauger, guides each recipe with his video and a step-by-step flow, builds a personal pantry record of what you have made, and connects you with other members at the Kitchen Table community.Not Professional Food Safety or Nutrition Advice: Greenhorn Grove is a teaching and reference tool. It is not professional food safety, nutrition, or medical advice, and it is not a substitute for guidance from your local extension service, the USDA, or a certified food safety expert. Some skills the App teaches, including fermentation, dairy, canning, and food preservation, carry real safety considerations. Matthew's recipes reflect what works in his kitchen; your ingredients, equipment, and environment will vary. Always use your own judgment, follow safe food handling practices, and check the safety of anything you make before eating it or serving it to others.
Community Content: The Kitchen Table is a community space. Posts, photos, comments, and help requests are created by members, not by Foundry or Matthew Gauger. We provide reporting and moderation tools and remove content that breaks the rules, but we cannot review every post before it appears. Advice shared by other members is their own; use your judgment, especially around food safety.
3. Account Registration
Some features require an account via Sign in with Apple or Google. You agree to provide accurate information, keep credentials secure, and notify us of unauthorized access. You're responsible for all account activity.4. Premium Subscriptions and Billing
Plans: Greenhorn Kitchen Pro is a paid subscription sold as in-app purchases through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Pricing, introductory offers, and free trial terms are displayed in the App at the point of purchase and may change over time.Free tier: Greenhorn Grove is free to download and use, with a set of recipes and core features available at no cost. Greenhorn Kitchen Pro unlocks the full recipe library and additional features as described in the App.Free trials: If a free trial is offered, it converts to a paid subscription automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.Auto-renewal: Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price unless canceled. Your Apple ID or Google account is charged for each renewal.Cancellation: Cancel any time through your store account. On iPhone, go to Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, and select Greenhorn Grove. On Android, open the Google Play Store, tap your profile, tap Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period, and you keep Pro access for the remainder of the period you already paid for.Refunds: Apple and Google handle all refunds for purchases made through their stores. Request Apple refunds at https://reportaproblem.apple.com/ and Google Play refunds through the Google Play Store. Foundry cannot issue store refunds directly.Price changes: We may change subscription prices. The app stores will require your explicit consent to material price increases before charging the new price.5. User Content
Your content: You keep ownership of the posts, photos, comments, attempt notes, and other content you create in the App. By posting to the Kitchen Table, you grant Foundry and other members a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and share that content within the App so the community can see and respond to it. By using the App, you grant Foundry a license to store and process your private data, such as your pantry, saved recipes, and cooking history, solely as needed to operate the App for you.Matthew's content: Matthew Gauger's recipes, videos, prep notes, photos, and teaching text inside the App are licensed to you for personal, non-commercial use within the App. You may not extract, redistribute, repackage, or resell Matthew's content. It remains the property of Greenhorn Grove and Matthew Gauger.Community standards: Do not post content that is unlawful, infringing, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, dangerous, or that contains sensitive personal information. Do not post unsafe food guidance presented as fact. We may remove content and suspend accounts that break these rules.Deletion: You can delete your own posts at any time. If you delete your account or request deletion, we will remove or de-identify your active data, including your posts and uploaded photos, within 30 days (backups purged within 90 days). Some records may be retained where required by law, such as subscription or tax records.6. End User License Agreement
By installing or using Greenhorn Grove you agree to a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App on a device that you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial use. You will not copy, modify, reverse engineer, rent, sell, sublicense, or transfer the App; remove proprietary notices; extract or redistribute Matthew's recipe content; use the App to build a competing product; or use the App in violation of applicable law. Foundry, Greenhorn Grove, and their licensors retain all right, title, and interest in the App and its content.Apple devices: If you download Greenhorn Grove from the Apple App Store, you also agree to the Apple Licensed Application End User License Agreement at https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/, except as the terms above modify it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms with respect to your license to use the App and may enforce them against you.Google Play: If you download Greenhorn Grove from Google Play, your use is also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service.Export and sanctions: You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or on any U.S. Government restricted-party list.7. Prohibited Conduct
Don't: reverse engineer the App, attempt unauthorized access, use bots or scrapers, share account credentials, distribute abusive content, violate laws, interfere with the App's operation, or commercially exploit App content.We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.8. Limitation of Liability
The App is provided "as is" without warranties. To the fullest extent permitted by law:• We're NOT liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages (including lost data)• Our total liability is capped at the greater of what you paid us in the last 12 months or $100 USDExceptions: This doesn't limit liability for death/injury from gross negligence, fraud, or liability we can't exclude by law. EU/UK/California consumer rights are not affected.If you experience harm related to App content, report it to hello@builtbyfoundry.io. We'll investigate and take appropriate action.
