Need a hand in the garden?

Quick answers for getting the most out of The Garden Almanac, or reach the team if you still need help.

Getting Started

Do I need an account? No. The App works fully without one. Set your garden location, pick a crop or two, and your first This Week plan is ready. Signing in is only for backing up your garden.
Where do my frost dates come from? From NOAA climate normals for your location, based on 30 years of station history. They are averages, not promises, and you can edit either date in Settings if your yard runs warmer or colder.
My location is outside the United States. Will it work? Not yet. Frost dates and forecasts come from US climate and weather services, so v1 supports US gardens only.

Alerts and This Week

When does the App send alerts?Only when a garden change leads to a useful action: a frost that threatens an active crop, a planting window opening, a heat spell, or a useful dry stretch. If nothing urgent happened, you get at most one quiet week refresh.
Why is my This Week list empty?A quiet garden is still a growing garden. Tasks appear when your crops enter a timing window or the forecast changes something. Add more crops from the catalog to see more of your season.
Can I turn off some alert types?Yes. Settings has a switch for each alert type: frost, planting windows, heat, rain gaps, and the quiet week refresh.

Your Garden Data

Where is my garden stored? On your device. Everything works offline except weather refreshes. You can export your full garden record as a file from Settings at any time.
How does backup work?Sign in with Apple in Settings under Garden backup. Every change is then mirrored to your private backup, and a new phone restores your garden automatically when you sign in. Journal photos stay on your device.
How do I delete my account?Settings, Garden backup, then Delete account and cloud backup. This permanently removes your account and the server copy of your garden. The copy on your device stays until you erase it.
