Do Hard Things help
Quick answers to the most common Do Hard Things questions. If you hit something that isn't covered, we respond in one to two business days.Getting Started
What is Do Hard Things?Do Hard Things is a push up training app from Rich Hernandez (@dohardthings365). Pick a challenge, put your phone on the floor, and the App counts your reps with the camera and coaches your pacing with Rich's cues. It takes you from your first wall push up to elite sets on Rich's real method.
Do I need an account? No. Training works without a login. Do Hard Things creates an anonymous profile only if needed for weekly boards or private crews.
I can't do a push up yet. Is this for me?Yes. Tell the App you're starting out during setup and it routes you to the beginner path, which starts on the wall. Everyone starts somewhere, and the whole method is built around getting 1% better every day.
Rep Counting and Calibration
How does the camera counting work?Your phone sits on the floor facing you. On-device pose detection watches your body position and counts a rep only when you hit depth. Nothing you do on camera leaves your phone; frames are processed in real time and discarded.
Do I have to use the camera? The current release needs camera access to count a tracked set and verify depth. Pose detection stays on your phone, and camera frames are discarded instead of uploaded.
Reps aren't counting. What do I check?Re-run calibration from the You tab. Make sure your phone is on the floor, your full upper body is in frame, and the room has decent light. Wearing clothing that contrasts with the floor helps the tracker.
What does 'Under review' mean on my result? If some reps in a set looked shallow or unclear, the App flags them and shows your result as provisional while you review the flagged reps. Honest counts are the whole point.
Challenges
What are the challenges?Three to start: The Pyramid (climb up and down in reps), The Metronome (hold a steady pace as long as you can), and Time Under Tension (slow reps, maximum control). Each one trains a different quality and each has its own board.
My set got interrupted. Did I lose it?No. If the App closes mid-run, it offers to recover the interrupted run the next time you open it.
Account and Data
Where is my training data stored?Your full history, results, settings, camera processing, and proof files stay on your device. If you opt into weekly boards or private crews, the App stores only the social data described in the Privacy Policy.
How do I delete my account or data?Open You, then Account & Data, then Delete profile and training data. This removes your private crew profile and weekly board entries, then erases local runs, records, plates, settings, and app-owned proof files. Copies you saved or shared remain under your control.
Does the current release include a subscription? No. The full launch version is free, with no purchase or subscription required.
How do I report or hide someone on the weekly board?Open Tribe and tap the options button beside the athlete. Hide athlete removes that identity from your board immediately. Report and hide also sends one fixed safety reason to Built by Foundry for review. Reports never include your camera footage, proof files, or full training history. For an urgent safety concern, email support@builtbyfoundry.io.
Access
What is included at launch? The complete training path, advanced challenges, produced proof edits, monthly promise recovery, and private crews are open to everyone in the launch release.
Troubleshooting
The App is crashing.Make sure you are on the latest version from your app store and restart your device. If the crash persists, email us with your device model, operating-system version, and what you were doing right before the crash.
Voice cues aren't playing.Check your media volume and the sound setting in the You tab. Voice cues are designed to work with your eyes off the screen, so make sure Do Not Disturb is not silencing media audio.
